L.B. Plastics Ltd is part of the Litchfield Group of Companies which was founded in 1922, initially manufacturing springs and metal pressings for the local hosiery industry. The business soon found additional markets in the automotive industry (for Rover cars) and the cycle and motorcycle industries for companies like Raleigh.
It was in 1948 that the Group first began thermoplastics processing, initially extruding and subsequently injection mouldings. Since then these two primary processes have been developed worldwide.
With its headquarters now at Nether Heage in Derbyshire, L.B. Plastics Ltd was formed in 1956, since when it has established a sound reputation for quality and innovation in research, design, manufacturing, delivery and support for its customers across a range of market sectors.
Long-term investment in development and technology has enabled the Group to become not just a supplier but a working partner with its customers. Products are conceived in conjunction with clients' own design teams, using the most advanced computer aided design facilities. Quality is designed in.
L.B. Plastics brand names include Sheerframe windows, doors and curtain walling. Sheerline fencing and decking, Hometrim cellular cladding, roofline products and trims, and Sheerglide/Contour furniture components.
The Group now employs around 1000 people and approximately 40% of its turnover is generated outside the UK. In addition to its three UK manufacturing companies, of which L.B. Plastics remains the largest, the Group has operations in North America, Germany, Poland, and Australasia.
The Litchfield Group remains independently owned by the Litchfield family who are committed to reinvesting in the Group's future success.
